How to identify that a company may not be legitimate.
First, legitimate businesses do not use free email account such as gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc…
Second, upon request you should be able to get poof of insurance or certificate of insurance paperwork. If they are able to provide you with verifiable information make sure they have at least a 3 Million Dollar Policy in addition make sure they have at least 1 Million Dollars in Workers Compensation Coverage.
Third, ask the company to provide a payroll report to ensure the company is not using 1099 employees because those employees would not be insured or licensed to work as a security officer.
Fourth, make sure they company has a physical address and not a PO Box because they could be operating out of the their basement.
Fifth, does the company have a dispatch command center and phone system or does it sound like you are calling someones cell phone or an answering service.
These are just a few of the key points to look out for when hiring a security provider to watch over your property.
